These programs are designed to allow young people to rehearse their social skills amongst their peers, in a safe environment with the guidance of our social skills coaches (clinicians).
We are really passionate about running these groups, because we really do see some amazing learning outcomes. For those participants who are already engaged in individual sessions with one of the coaches , these groups are an excellent opportunity for the therapist to see the young person practicing their social skills with peers. This also allows us opportunities to observes gaps in skill developments and to address these in ongoing individual or group sessions (wherever appropriate).
These groups are also co-facilitated by one or more of our professionally trained & assessed Therapy Dogs.
The groups run for 8 x consecutive weeks in a row. You are welcome to enrol in as many Join Up groups as you want throughout the school year. Many of our clients attend multiple groups, one every term. Some families prefer the groups because they are in out of school hours, and some kids really enjoy taking a break from individual sessions to attend a group. We have seen many friendships blossom in our groups and continue on after the group finishes.
The cost of the groups is dependant on how many clinicians and kids are enrolled in the group. We essentially charge per clinician, and that cost is divided amongst the group participants. We like to have as many clinicians in the group as possible, as this allows us to offer more individualised support to the young people. We can give you an estimate on the group cost when we have confirmed number of attendees.
These groups can be covered by NDIS if your child has appropriate funding.
Medicare unfortunately do not allow rebates for these groups.
Private paying clients are welcome.
Group bookings are subject to our cancellation policy. Once a young person is enrolled in the group, they will be charged for each week of the group, whether they attend or not.
There is the option of having an individual parent feedback session at the conslusion of the group for in depth feedback about your childs strengths and challenges as observed and addressed throughout the group. This is not compulsory, but is advisable if your child is not already engaged in individual therapy sessions with one of the clinicians, as feedback will be being provided in individual sessions.
We are always taking EOI's for these groups - which run every term.
Please fill in the form below to let us know that you are interested and our team will be in touch with more details.
